Currency (Philippines)
The Peso (PHP) is the official currency of the Philippines. Banknotes come in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000. Coins come in denominations of 1, 5, and 10 pesos and 10 & 25 Sentimos.
ATMs are widely available in major cities, towns and most tourist areas. We suggest exchanging your money before travelling to smaller towns, as exchange facilities can be very limited. US Dollars and Australian Dollars can be exchanged at International Airports and in some hotels, provided the currency is new and undamaged.
Here is a reference table of approximate exchange rates (for up-to-date exchange rates, please check xe.com before you travel):
1 unit of current | Philippine PHP |
AU$1 | 36.59 |
NZ$1 | 34.04 |
US$1 | 55.80 |
