Currency (Kazakhstan)

The official currency in Kazakhstan is the Kazakh Tenge (KZT). Banknotes come in denominations of  1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000 tenge. Coins come in 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 Tiyn as well as 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 Tenge.

  • Cash is the preferred method of payment throughout the country. Credit cards are only accepted in larger cities and hotels.
