South America is a continent bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, and the Caribbean Sea to the north. South America has a wide variety of climates, ranging from the hot and humid Amazon rainforest to the cold and dry Patagonian steppe. The climate is influenced by a number of factors, including the altitude, latitude, and proximity to the ocean.
