China 30 Day Visa-free Travel Policy

Effective 30 November 2024, Australian and New Zealand passport holders will be eligible to travel to China for tourism purposes without a visa if their travel duration is no more than 30 days. The 30 day visa-free travel policy begins on 30 November 2024 and will end on 31 December 2025.

The list of 38 countries that this visa exemption applies to is:

Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, and Switzerland 

 

If your travel to China exceeds 30 days in duration, or you hold a passport from another country, you will need to apply for an L-type tourist visa. Please see China Physical Visa Instructions for more information.
